The Course
This interactive course provides community and disability support workers with the knowledge and skills to assist clients with their medications.
Attendees will gain an understanding of the principles of safety when supporting a client to manage their medication, the six rights of medication administration, common side effects of medication and what to do in the event of a medication incident

Different routes for medication administration
Use of medication administration aids such as a blister pack
Organisations policy and guidelines for medication administration
Identify a medication incident and what to do when an incident occurs
Practical Activities
Attendees are required to demonstrate checking and removing medication from a blister pack as well as identifying different types of medication incident, how to minimise the risk and what to do in the event of a medication incident.
The duration of the course is 3.5 hours.
A certificate of achievement is issued to all attendees.
Certificates are valid for one year.
